Frankfurt, 31 October 2025 - The Green for Growth Fund (GGF), advised by Finance in Motion, is investing in two renewable energy projects in western Ukraine to help secure the country’s energy supply and reduce carbon emissions. The agreements were signed on 30 October in Kyiv, supported by funds from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) earmarked for Ukraine.
Sylvia Wisniwski, CEO of Finance in Motion says:
“Renewable energy is key to rebuilding Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and ensuring long-term stability. Our investments aim to secure reliable electricity and support sustainable economic growth”.
Together with Borislav Kostadinov, Fund Director of GGF, Wisniwski signed the agreements in Kyiv on Thursday, 30 October, alongside a German delegation and high-ranking German politicians.
Borislav Kostadinov, Fund Director of GGF comments:
“By expanding solar and wind capacity, we help Ukraine reduce external dependencies and lay the foundation for sustainable growth. Only a stable basis of renewable energies can ensure long-term energy security and sustainable development.”
Initially, two projects will be implemented: one solar power plant and one wind power plant. GGF Fund Director Kostadinov also discussed further commitments with the National Bank of Ukraine during the visit.
Sylvia Wisniwski says:
“Even before the war, the country was one of our most important partners, which is why we have a lot of experience and are making good progress. In this respect, the investments are part of a long series of successful projects.”
Two projects to drive impact
- Solar power plant: Developed with Goldbeck Solar Investment Ukraine, a joint venture between Goldbeck Solar Investment and the European Bank for Reconstruction and 12,000 tonnes of CO₂. The capital for this project comes from the equity of GGF and Goldbeck Solar.
- Wind farm: In partnership with Notus Energie, a Potsdam-based company that has already built 140 wind farms in 19 countries and has been active in Ukraine since 2019. The planned wind farm will have a total capacity of 120 MW, enabling significant energy generation and reducing CO₂ emissions by 43,000 tonnes. GGF will act as a minority investor in this project.
These investments build on GGF’s long-standing engagement in Ukraine and reflect its commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions that drive resilience and sustainability. By supporting projects that deliver measurable environmental benefits and strengthen energy independence, GGF and Finance in Motion continue to contribute to Ukraine’s sustainable future.
